Hymn to Hephaistos #Orpheus

This is a first-pass attempt to translate the Orphic Hymn to Hephaistos, the God of Volcanoes, and, by metaphor, the God of Metal Forges and Metalworking due to the intense heat required.

Likely, an eruption was simulated on-stage. 

It is interesting to note that Hephaistos is spoken of in conjunction with the "Phusis" of the Earth.

66. Ἡφαίστου, - Hephaistos, God of Volcanoes 

θυμίαμα - incense
λιβανομάνναν. - of Lebanon (frankincense) loose, porous

Ἥφαιστ’ - Hephaistos
ὀμβριμόθυμε, - raining (ὀμβριμό) -or- strong/mighty (ὀβριμό) + soul, spirit (θυμε) μεγασθενές, - great, mega (μεγα) + strength, might (σθενές)
ἀκάματον - "untiring" = arising above (ἀ) + toil, trouble, weariness (κάματον) 
πῦρ, - fire, pyre

λαμπόμενε - lamp (λαμπό) + might, force (μενε) 
φλογέαις - blazing, flaming, fiery-red
αὐγαῖς, - light, bright light
φαεσίμβροτε - shining, radiant (φαε) + bent upwards, uphill, holllow/concave (σίμ) + mortal, stained with gore, blood that has run from a wound (βροτε) = "bringing light to mortals"
δαῖμον, - power, force

φωσφόρε, - bear or bring light, torch-bearing, phosphor
καρτερόχειρ, - strength, vigor, violence, force (καρτε) + dash with a roaring sound; cleft (ρόχ) + ειρ  - or - hand (χειρ)
αἰώνιε, - perpetual, eternal, lasting for an age, aion
τεχνοδίαιτε, - techno, art (τεχνο) + way of life, regimen, diet (δίαιτε)

ἐργαστήρ, - work (ἐργα) + foundation, fixed, firmly set (στήρ)  = workshop, manufacturing place
κόσμοιο - order, cosmos
μέρος, - the part one takes in a thing, lot, destiny, division
στοιχεῖον - stocheion, element, basic principle
ἀμεμφές, - arising above (ἀ) + find fault, complain, blame (μεμφές) 

παμφάγε, - all (παμ) + gluttonous, swallowing, devouring (φάγε) 
πανδαμάτωρ, - all (παν) + taming, dominating (δαμάτωρ)
πανυπέρτατε, - all (παν) + uppermost, highest, strain to the uttermost (υπέρτατε) = "highest of all"
παντοδίαιτε, - all (παντο) + way of life, regimen, diet (δίαιτε)

αἰθήρ, - ethereal, aither, ether, the upper element, heaven
ἥλιος, - sun, Helios (God of the Sun)
ἄστρα, - astral, starry
σελήνη, - moon, Selene (Goddess of the Moon)
φῶς - light
ἀμίαντον· - arising above (ἀ) + stain, defilement, pollution (μίαντον) = "undefiled, pure"

ταῦτα - resembling, in the same way, synonymous, equivalent, taut, stretched, following the same rule
γὰρ - for, generating
Ἡφαίστοιο - Hephaistos
μέλη - sweet, honey, bee
θνητοῖσι - mortal
προφαίνει. - before, pro (προ) + come to light, appear, give light, shine, phane (φαίνει) = bring to light, show forth, manifest, show beforehand (perhaps: give us a clue/sign before you erupt?)

πάντα - all
δὲ - of, from
οἶκον - home, house
ἔχεις, - have, hold, possess, inhabit
πᾶσαν - all
πόλιν, - multi, many, poli
ἔθνεα - ethnicity, nation, people
πάντα, - all  (residing among all nations/peoples?)

σώματά - body, whole of a thing, embody
τε - too then
θνητῶν - mortal
οἰκεῖς, - home
πολύολβε, - many, multi poli (πολύ) + happiness, bliss, whole life (ολβε) = very wealthy
κραταιέ. - strong, mighty

κλῦθι, - call
μάκαρ, - happy, blessed
κλήιζω - make famous, celebrate in song, applaud, praise, invoke, summon
σε - together, thou
πρὸς - before, pro
εὐιέρους - essence pure (εὐ) + holy (ιέρους) 
ἐπιλοιβάς, - upon, epi (ἐπι) + libation, pouring, drink-offering (λοιβάς) = "drink-offering"   (probably poured something into "volcano" to trigger eruption?)

αἰεὶ - eternal
ὅπως - in such a matter that, in order that, in which, when
χαίρουσιν - delight
ἐπ’ - upon
ἔργοις - work
ἥμερος - of day
ἔλθοις. - come, go

παῦσον - pause
λυσσῶσαν - rage, fury, mad, unleash, loose
μανίαν - mania, mad
πυρὸς - fire
ἀκαμάτοιο - arising above (ἀ) + toil, trouble, weary, bowed down with toil (καμάτοιο) = "without sense of toil"

καῦσιν - burning, caustic
ἔχων - have, hold, possess
φύσεως - phusis, Nature, Goddess of Nature, physics, female genitalia
ἐν - in
σώμασιν - body
ἡμετέροισιν. - center (ἡ) + of the mother (μετέρ) + to give birth, to launch an arrow, produce, bear (οισιν)  (equating volcano with Earth's genitalia)
