Boreas, the north wind, is the basis, the lowest temperature wind. 
Zephyros, the west wind, is the wind of spring, the spark of life.
Notos, the south wind, is the wind that brings fruit-sustaining rainstorms.

Χειμερίοις - wintry, stormy, cold, stormy weather
αὔραισι - breeze, aura, Aurai, Goddesses of the breezes
δονῶν - shake, of the effects of wind

Ζεφυριτίδες, - zephyritides, westerly wind, epithet of month of March
ἠεροφοῖται, - air-wandering = air (ἠερο) + go to and fro, wandering, frequently, moving, repeated going and coming (φοῖται)
ἡδύπνοοι - "sweet-breathing, sweet-smelling, fragrant" = sweet (ἡδύ) + breath (πνοοι) 
ψιθυραί, - whisper, musical instrument, identified by some with the askaros; whisper
θανάτου - death, mortality
ἀνάπαυσιν - repose, rest, relaxation, recreation, rest from a thing = arising (ἀνά) + pause (παυσιν) 
ἔχουσαι, - have, hold, hold fast, possess

εἰαριναί, - spring, spring-time
λειμωνιάδες, - meadow
πεποθημέναι - cooked, cooked by the sun, ripe; kind, gentle (πεπο) + divine (θη) + spirit, passion (μέναι) 
ὅρμοις, - cord, chain, anything strung like a wreath, a kind of dance performed in a ring by youths and maidens; means of mooring, attachment

σύρουσαι - sweep, trail of a snake, long drawn out, broom, brushwood, Syria, together with

τρυφερὸν - delicate, dainty, tender, soft-skin, soft
ὅρμον, - of a cord, chain, anything strung like a wreath, a kind of dance performed in a ring by youths and maidens; means of mooring, attachment

Hesiod, Works and Days 663 ff : 
"Do not wait till the time of the new wine and autumn rain and oncoming storms with the fierce gales of Notos (South Wind) who accompanies the heavy autumn rain of Zeus and stirs up the sea and makes the deep dangerous."
